Thanks for the reply , I have now solved the problem , after reading the manual again and again going back and forward pages it all clicked . Unconnecting the RCA 7.1 channel analogue inputs from the DVD player to the Marantz and connecting thru HDMI. I reset the input assign to HDMI 2 and input to AUTO decode , loaded Gladiator and checked sound option in the DVD player set up options to AUTO and disc menu to DTS pushed play and bloody hell a whole array of lights appear on the display under the dropdown door. DVD DTS SURROUND , Audyssey , [DIG] DTS and the Dynamic vol and Dynamic EQ buttons work with DVD.
Now I know I haven't wasted money , now I know I can sell the Arcam AVR 100 , now there is a bloody great weight off my shoulders. Now my missus is gonna hate me playing DTS discs.
Will set up my CD player and Turntable thru the Marantz later on in the week and see how it compares to my Valve Amp for music , can't see it being anywhere near the Valve amp/Valve phono stage with the TT as I had a Marantz PM11 S1 Amp a few years back which I sold after hearing the Valve Amp , CD might be closer but I doubt it.
